I had a few skippy moments when using Photoshop with the default refresh rate so I just clocked it to 125hz and it works famously. Overall the mouse is kickass. I only use the large mouse 'shell' attachment. The other one seems to make my hand really sweaty.
Getting the right amount of weight in the mouse will take about a week, but once you get comfortable with a setting you'll never need the additional weights. I don’t have the G9X, but I have an Anywhere Mouse MX, which — I believe — has a similar scroll wheel (stepped or free spinning). My experiences have been mixed.
I like the mouse and the Logitech software works okay for configuring it, but the scroll wheel has given me issues. Free spinning works fine for everyday usage, as does the stepped mode, but games are a different story. I fiddled around with the sensitivity settings, but never managed to get one notch to register as one action. That means the scroll wheel doesn’t work to switch to precisely the next weapon, or the next inventory item in Minecraft.
It does in Bootcamp, but under OS X it doesn’t. Maybe some of the third party drivers others mentioned help, but the Logitech Control Center doesn’t. I have the G9X and I use it for SC2 on the Mac. First thing you'll notice it jumps - you'll have to plug the mouse in on Windows (VMWare or Bootcamp) and install the Logitech drivers.
